Ferrari’s is a café-but-really-more-a-sandwich bar in the distinctive tubular protrusion affront the Times Square building on the corner of Cooyong and Mort. I popped in for a macchiato, which came out looking pretty good: temperature right, short pour, not too much milk, and even a clover-leaf painted on top. Unfortunately, the coffee didn’t taste too great.

A newly opened and lavishly fitted restaurant and café, Tazé served me a smooth, tasty coffee. It took everything in my power to resist partaking from the delicious array of mediterranean baked sweets and pastries, fresh from their wood-fire oven.

Coffee has the right amount of bite in the mornings. Gas fire gives warmth and a warm atmosphere. Tom, Ellie, Kellie and Lisa are very lovely and natural people with a warmth of their own.

I’ll often stop into Tonic when I’m in Civic and they haven’t let me down yet. Piccolos are always silky smooth and plenty of body.

Better known for it’s chocolate making skill, Koko Black does a decent job of serving up the espresso as well. I’ve also heard rumours the hot chocolate affogato is rather delicious.

Tucked behind the deservedly bustling Tonic, Cibalia offers a quieter, cosier café experience. Their coffee is decent enough but doesn’t match the finesse of their more popular neighbour. My order on this visit was a short macchiato, and I received a la…

Just around the corner from the hub of cafés at Garema Place, Dieci e Mezzo sits at the bottom of the new ActewAGL building, an office-building café unlike any other that I’ve visited in Canberra. It has the trappings of a fine restaurant: quality table…
