Farmers Daughter
Fantastic long macchiato served with a glass of sparkling water. Nice
A coffee that tastes as beautiful as it looks! Real smooth milk and campos beans are a winning combo.
Lovely coffee in attractive cups, tasty food, nice staff, and sweet decor (including tables made from old sewing machine stands). Highly recommended.
Stumbled upon this place today, and will be sure to return. Excellent, strong Campos coffee, skim milk was textured beautifully and not too hot.
My current favourite cafe, great service, excellent campos coffee. Food is good too though a little pricey.
Ok so after much raving and ranting and the fact it was a 1 minute drive away I finally had the time to sus this tastfully decorated little joint.
I could see why people make a fuss over it because of its choice of campisi coffee, delectable looking sweet nibbled and a trendy and tastful decor.
But $19.50 for 2 short (very short, I didn’t ask for a Ristretto!!) blacks, a full cream flat white that I couldn’t help but feel was half skim half full, (to avoid heating more full cream, I know the tricks you twat u can’t fool me!!) And 3 Macaroons that he couldn’t tell.me the flavours of? ( BTW the lavender couloured one was Lavender, not berry).
Lucky for him, they were the best macaroons I’ve tried in Australia and very close to the size, texture and consistency to the Pierre Hermè ones… Mmmm.
Next time Ill make sure I try the menu and have my coffee when I’m not in a rush, also to confront the barista next time it tastes like skim!! Aarrgggg!!
Finally a cafe in Canberra sources one of Sydney’s finest blends, Campos!
And the food is great! The triple croque monsieur was delicious. And the breakfast platter was perfect when I didn’t feel like anything too heavy.
Hopefully its small size can manage the needy crowd in the long term (mainly on Saturdays).
They don’t take bookings and for good reason. A booking implies that you may stay for say, an hour, when maybe you don’t need to. You show up, pop your name on a reserve list and be patient.
Unfortunately when we went the people before us didn’t have much going on with their day and decided to sit around for an hour after they’d finished eating.
My advice is if you want a lazy dining experience go somewhere with mediocre coffee and food - you will have all the room and time in the world to loiter.
If I lived on the South side I would happily hit up Farmer’s Daughter for a takeaway coffee. But from where I live (North) Roasters is still closer for a busy takeaway.
Have to agree with Ian that the Campos coffee is excellent. Still a few kinks to iron out in the ordering process/POS system – my dining partner received a very-well-made coffee that was not what she ordered – but the future looks bright.
Flat white was small but reasonably strong. It drank very easily and left me wanting more…
So I followed it up with a long black which was dark and full of flavour. I always prefer some milk but would happily take either of them again. The choc croissant was a winner and I’ll be returning for a macaron, not to mention more of that tasty Campos coffee.
