Ona Coffee
Had to be checked out following recent positive reviews. Terrific balance of strength & subtlety in their cappuccino, which is clearly the best in Manuka at present.
Hands down this is probably the best coffee in Canberra (prove me wrong…). The baristas are experienced and love what they are doing and the service is more then acceptable.
The coffee is smooth, the perfect temperature and has a great aftertaste, plus the Panela (unrefined sugar cane) they use in place of sugar perfectly compliments the flavors. I need to make some time to try some of their more exotic coffees (cold filtered etc), but if you are just after a good coffee you cant go wrong.
The quality of their coffee didnt change despite their recent change of management. Still the best coffee in manuka and one of the best in canberra. The food and price is reasonable. The downside the wait can be little bit overwhelming especially when u dine in on the weekend.
Great coffee and have consistently enjoyed coming to this café. Aaron (owner, normally wears a silly hat/beanie/akubra) is very personable and an excellent barista.
Wait times for take aways can be a little long at times, but overall a very good café.
In spite of its trendy image, Manuka a bit of a dead zone for decent coffee: Ona Coffee is the best I’ve come across in the area. The long black I had was well-made and had a nice nutty aftertaste. Extra points for being open on a public holiday, but take a few off for charging a 10% surcharge (and then overcharging on top of that).
From the long weekend (Monday) Rocked up to a nearly empty cafe and thought the lack of patrons would surely mean expediated service. This was our first mistake. We thought we’d wait and and give them a chance to serve us. Second mistake. After waiting for 10mins and watching the waitress choose to clean empty tables we walked out. No coffee. Even the best tasting coffee wouldn’t have redeemed the horrible service. This place blows :(
I go here when with the in-laws. They go here *every* weekend and order the same thing *every* weekend so it can’t be all bad ;-) The coffee is actually quite good. Basically brekkie food’s as good as, and cheaper than, nearby places too (Verve, Zucchero)
The wall of beans and array of barista awards don’t lie. A no frills café that that delivers great coffee.
My double macchiato came in a glass. It had two distinct layers: one deep black, the espresso, topped with a thin layer of milk foam that artfully featured an eight-pointed star. This is the kind of coffee that demands you take a moment to enjoy watching the thin tendrils of milk slowly seep downwards to the bottom of the cup.
