Stuffy atmosphere, poor cramped layout and the coffee is not as good as other places on the same strip. Give it a miss.

Take away flat white was OK but missing a bit of zing. Good creamy feel but mouth left feeling a little underwhelmed. Temp a little on the luke side of the luke warm barrier for me. Service: variable - guy who took order was friendly under Sunday peak-hour fire, girl at the machine was a bit cranky.

Five Stars.
Coffee is always fabulous.
Food is amazing and staff are friendlier than anywhere else.
Add to that a great location and atmosphere and you have the fantastic place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Disappointingly average coffee, given the reputation and the friendly atmosphere. The kitchen may not be big enough for the venue. Will have to go back and try again – others rave about this place.

Mugachino and flat white were made ‘strong’ and we enjoyed them. A pretty good crema and quite warm enough

Campos coffee. When you ask for a large they give you a bowl. The soy milk isn’t burned. All good.

An underwhelming experience. Grinders beans are usually safe, but this latte was served weak and warm. A hint of bitterness suggested over-extraction. They need to lift their game to compete in Newcastle’s coffee precinct.

Salawi has very tasty coffee, lots of cool fair trade products to browse, a laid back atmosphere and a friendly owner. Oh, and a cute border collie pottering around.

Definitely the best coffee in Newcastle’s CBD, possibly the best in the city.

The staff are friendly and the orders are generally out pretty fast. The laneway makes for a nice setting and the place’s fit out is cosy and friendly.
