One of my favourite places near mum’s. Good espresso. Great food. They care about their coffee.

Great coffee, friendly staff and nice relaxed atmosphere. Their pastries and food looked good too - need to have some of that next time! Ended up buying some beans (the coffee was that good) and even on a busy Sunday morning the barista took the time to tell me more about them - they are Umami - and offered to grind them too. I’ll be back!

I seriously can’t commend this place highly enough. I mean, between Broadway and St Peters there is plenty of good coffee to find, so one might find me guilty of over hyping a place. All I can say in response to that is that I went there the day before I left Australia for four months, and four months later I was still thinking about the coffee.

The meals there are great as well, but… well, coffee website, right? That’s why we’re all here. The double espresso I had there smooth, as perfectly drawn as I’ve ever had, and syrupy. Moreover, afterwards I sat at the bar with the brothers that run the joint and they fed me different coffees just to show me how they tasted. Anywhere that not only makes great coffee, but then sits you down and gives you more just because is a place to go back to. They are super laid back as well—that area of Sydney can trade great coffee off against pretentiousness, so having a chilled out barista is a plus as well.

One of those medium size, still care about quality, still love their profession, cafe’s. Presently sourcing single origin small orders of green beans, they update their recently created facebook page with what origin and style they are presently using. Liking this cafe, but not loving it, I recently dropped by for an espresso with a side of cream (think unsweetened affogato) and had, yes, one of the best coffee’s I’ve ever had - was an Ethiopian origin. The espresso was sweet and aromatic, impossible not to distinguish it immediately from the daily grind served elsewhere. Light mixing of cream into it made a rippled delicious blend.

Genuinely friendly and interested staff, plus great breakfast options and shop-made selection of baked-goods, makes this worth the short walk/peddle/drive from the usual King St, Newtown, scene.

Great coffee, hot choc and mocha are also outstanding. The wraps are huge and excellent. Best bet in Erskineville

If Campos wasn’t such a long walk from my place I’d probably get my morning kick there, but Vargabar comes close to the coffee quality without all the hipster-barista pretense. Add to that their takeaway window and text-ahead ordering and I’m one happy …

Staff were nice and food was pleasant. Location is good for taking in the bustle of Newtown.

Coffee was alright but very weak.

This is a great little place tucked away at the back end of Newtown. Great coffee and really great omelettes which are more like an egg pizza, than your normal pan fried egg-fare.

Came here for a Good Friday breakfast as it was one of the few cafes open. Down a little laneway and upstairs in a restored retro warehouse is a fantastic, buzzy little cafe. A very respectable double espresso with my tasty brekky. Lots of gluten free o…
