Caldo Freddo
After a few less than stellar espresso experiences in Paris, and with Decaf Sucks reviews a little thin on the ground in this part of the world, I decided to try some alternative sources for a decent café recommendation. Through the coffeegeek.com forums I found a decent review for Caldo Freddo, an italian eatery of sorts right near the apartment where I was staying.
Unfortunately, I must have had a different experience to the Coffee Geek user. The espresso I had wasn’t much more than standard fare. It seemed to be the first coffee of the day though, so perhaps you might have better luck later in the day.

One of the many cafés and restaurants that line Rue Montorgueil, as is the way in Paris, it’s a nice place to sit facing the street and watch a Paris Sunday go by. Their coffee is a served too hot, but flavourful enough and competently constructed.
