A Bite To Eat, A Drink As Well
Thought we’d book early (9:30am) Sunday morning to avoid any rush and enjoy a meal at ‘A Bite to Eat’ to celebrate two birthdays, my son and his uncle.
Arrived a shade early (9:15am) and 75, yes, SEVENTY FIVE minutes later we had still not received two of the meals. Of the dishes of over-priced faux-mexicana fare that did arrive, these were stodgy and tasted like they’d been sitting in a bain-marie for an extended period.
Four queries about the whereabouts of our meals resulted in inconsistent excuses from wait-staff who appeared not to make any effort to actually deal with the issue.
Nota bene peeps:
1) Hipster attitude and rude ambivalence on the part of staff does not constitute actual customer service.
2) Witticisms chalked on the wall, second hand furniture and funkily named dishes a decent restaurant/café do not make.
Coffee was reasonable but I shan’t darken their door again.
My 2 usual flat white skinny mug drinking companions insisted on this ranking, coffees looked and smelt great, iced coffee tempted another on this hot day, I sufficed with another cold beverage. We ate as well and enjoyed the experience.
Interesting menu which is a nice change from most cafes. Latte was good but not stellar.
Really glad they now do table service! Though it can still be a little slow.
A great option for southsiders.
So lured here by decafsucks and proximty to work I’ve had some great coffees from A Bite to Eat. Unfortunately they were before I signed up to twitter. Yesterdays flat white was a solid 3 stars but not up to the expectations I’ve built up. Temperature was in a good range but the flavour missed the mark - just not up to the creamy smooth goodness normally present. I will return and hope to find the coffee back to its best.
Find the service here slow and a little arrogant. Coffee is okay.
A real standout in Canerra’s south: a large café/restaurant/bar that still manages to provide for a cosy ambience. Rustic brick walls, a variety of seating inside and out, including couches and 1970s-era tables and chairs. I enjoyed both a good coffee and a rejuvenating experience.
A very laid-back café/bar in the suburbs of Canberra.
They have the largest Rancilio machine I have ever seen—I get excited every time I think about it.
My only gripe is that they have counter service and are thus often slow. Still, the quality of the coffee and the sunny courtyard make up for that. Bonus points for delicious breaky and having beer on tap for those weekend brunches that transition into early afternoon drinks.
