City Edge Café and Bar
I agree that it was overpriced, but I’ve had worse sausage rolls (even the sausage roll without salad came with some salad). The camembert (inspired by baked clarines?) looked good on the menu but I saw it too late, as the menus were on the counter, not on the tables. All the staff I encountered (the owner and a male waiter) were charming and the garden is looking beautiful. And the coffee was good - that’s important in a café. Right now is a particularly good time to go because:
1. The foyer, ticket salesman and cafe are decked out with a lot of Halloween/horror props. In some cases they are very lifelike.
2. The loquat tree outside the cafe is having a bumper harvest and they are almost ripe. If you are not experienced with loquats, only pick those which have gone yellow right down to the very base - not a trace of green. Peel and eat, and if you like it, take the large, smooth seed(s) home to plant one of your own.
