Babka Bakery Cafe
In terms of food, it’s a winner. Coffee wise…disappointing. It becomes obvious from the lack of care in preparation and attention that the coffee you are about to get is bad. And it is.
Everything about Babka is great except the coffee, which is a bit of a let-down – it’s not *terrible* (although at times in the past, I’ve found it pretty ordinary), but it’s really not up to the standard of the food, and there are plenty of places nearby that knock Babka coffee out of the park. The coffee is more often than not served luke-warm, and I’ve had more than one (or ten) badly burnt espressos.
The staff are generally pretty good about offering a replacement if you end up with a real dud though.
This place is quirky and well worth a visit for a weekend breakfast. Amazing food and good coffee. Not to mention a great Melbourne vibe.
