Despite its storied place in Canberra’s dining history, I refrain from visiting Gus’. The one reason: dirty glassware. Unless you want your coffee accompanied by months of encrusted scum, do not go.

My flat white was fine, maybe a tad too foamy. This is a newish place that replaced My Cafe.

Milk and Honey looks the part but my flat white is only OK - not much flavour, slight bitter aftertaste.

The Bakery Cafe has recently sprung up in the refurbished former location of Chinese dining institution, Sammy’s. While it is just around the corner from the glut of cafés in Garema Place, it lacks both the hipster charm and relatively high standard of …

Not bad flat whites, though a bit too foamy and hot when I visited. Expensive, but their sizing is very, very large. The (very pricey) banana bread turned out to be more of a nut cake.
