Benchmark Wine Bar
Enticed by the distinctive red Illy sign hanging outside, I popped in for a coffee. The place was open but empty, and they clearly were not used to customers coming in for coffee only. I placed my order and let the girl get to work behind the red Illy machine, while I waited and enjoyed the crisp Canberra sun at a table outside. The double macchiato that was brought to me in a tall thin white demitasse. Milk mixed all through, it was a drinkable but otherwise unidimensional, unremarkable coffee. Certainly not worth the $4.80 price. Perhaps this is a coffee you can enjoy after some posh nosh from their fancy menu, but not an attraction in itself.

Basic, no-frills café in the bus interchange. Friendly chap behind the counter made me a pretty passable macchiato. This isn’t the kind of place you’d go out of your way to hang out in, but it might do the job if you’re after a quick coffee between busses.
